When the stunning Russian model was chosen to appear on the cover of the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated in 2011, she garnered the attention of people all over the world. Irina Shayk claims that her dark-skinned Turkish father is the source of her South American appearance, despite the fact that she was born in the Soviet Union during the latter part of the 1980s.
Grandmother’s Name Tattoo
The only tattoo that Shayk has is very subtle and difficult to notice due to its size. You can read the name of her Grandmother, Galina, written in the Cyrillic alphabet (in Bashkir). She has said that the tattoo represents her grandmother and that “she’s always with me.”
Shayk was brought up by her mother, her two grandmothers, and her older sister.
She said: “we never had men around”. That instilled in her the belief that women “are the ones who can handle everything. Women can raise the kids, women can do the job, and when she’s back, she can cook and clean and do the heavy work too!”.
“It was really inspiring to grow up in a women’s family because you learn so much from the strong women in your life,” she added.
