Lea Michelle is an American actress, songwriter, singer, and author born on August 29, 1986, in Bronx, New York.
She began pursuing acting after she and her friend attended an open casting for a musical, for which she was offered the role.
Her breakout Broadway role was in the musical “Les Misérables”, after which she was cast in “Ragtime” and “Fiddler on the Roof”. After performing for several years on Broadway, she won the role of Rachel Berry on the comedy-drama series “Glee”, which aired in 2009.
She has received the 2009 Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Series – Comedy or Musical, as well as won three People’s Choice Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Her performances have also earned her nominations for a Golden Globe and Emmy award.
